How to Craft the Perfect Call to Action

Welcome back to Farm Fridays! I, for one, am so excited for the cooler fall weather. Though, I completely understand the dilemma for many real estate agents in the country. Fall and winter are the slow season when it comes to listings, but that doesn’t mean you can’t generate and nurture leads! In fact, I personally believe the fall and winter are the perfect time for realtors to amp up their digital marketing tactics and grow their farm.

Key Terms Defined

This week, we’re going to discuss Call to Actions (hereafter referred to as CTAs). Like always, I’ll start you out with some definitions to get you situated!

What is a call to action (CTA)?

A call to action is just what it sounds like. It’s a phrase that tells the user what to do, in this case how they should contact your business or how they can get more information. In the digital marketing biz, we call them action buttons. 

What does conversation rate mean?

Conversion rate is how many people take a specific action on your website. For example, if 10,000 people visit your site and 200 of them click on the call-to-action button then that would be a conversion rate of 2%. The higher the percentage the better because it means more people are taking advantage of what you’re offering. You may remember when we talked about click-through rates on a previous Farm Friday post. It’s very similar!

When to Use CTAs

Call to Action buttons are great when your business wants to generate leads online. Think of CTAs like when you were in school, when the teacher asked if there were any questions. It’s an opportunity for you to ask a question or perhaps make a comment. You know when you go on Facebook and they’re asking you to leave a comment with your favorite cereal? That would be a CTA. It’s when you prompt your customers to do something, like generate leads for your business or contact you about purchasing goods and services that you offer.    

How to Come Up with a CTA

What makes CTAs so great is that it takes advantage of current trends and user behavior when it comes to social media. In this day and age, you need to be where your customers are in order to grow your business, especially when it comes to lead generation for real estate agents . So what you’re going to do is come up with a list of keywords that best describe your company or product/service that many people in your target demographic are searching for when they use social media. For example, when someone searches for “buy houses” or when people search Yelp looking for an agent in the area, that’s when you would want to include a CTA with your company name and website URL when possible. As previously mentioned, this is when most businesses will prompt users to leave a comment or post on their wall when it comes to social media.

Another way to come up with CTAs is when you know what your product/service does and the value that it provides.

Social Media CTAs

You can use a CTA when someone makes a comment on your company tweet because it’s a great time to say, “Hey thanks for the comment! How can we work together?” You can also use a CTA when commenting on other people’s social media posts (particularly potential customers)

Commenting on Other Profiles 

Here are some action examples of good CTAs to use on social media when you’re looking to generate leads for real estate agents by commenting on other people’s profiles.

  • “I’m sorry to hear that you’ll be moving out of the area soon. I provide full-service when it comes to relocating families in Dallas. Can we schedule a time to talk about your move?”
  • “We buy houses when people are looking for an easy way out of their home when selling isn’t an option. Interested in learning more? Let’s chat!”
  • “You’re looking for a new home and I’m the go-to when it comes to finding your dream home. Let’s chat about what you’re looking for when it comes to location, price, and house plans.”

Whenever you comment on social media posts from your business profile, make sure to include calls to action. You don’t necessarily need to create a sense of urgency, but you want to make sure that people keep you in mind when it comes to realtors. You can collect their email address in subsequent conversation to add to your email list.

Replying to Comments

You can also use a CTA when someone makes a comment on your Facebook when you’re promoting your latest blog post. It’s a great way to grow your brand when someone mentions something they liked when it comes to the article. Here are some examples of good CTAs when someone comments on your posts or shares them when it comes to social media marketing.

  • “Thanks for sharing, I’ve written an article about how to use home staging when selling your home. Interested in learning more?”
  • “Thanks for reading my latest blog post! Here’s an article that I’ve written when it comes to the increasing rates of autism when compared with other demographics. Let me know what you think!”
  • “Can’t believe how much people are willing to pay when it comes to rent when there are homes that will cost you less when buying. If interested, let’s talk!”

The best advice I have for creating CTAs and using them as part of your digital marketing strategy is to make sure you use action phrases such as “let’s click!” and “let me know what you think!” This action wording encourages your lead to participate with you and gives them a sense of direction when it comes to your potential partnership. Engaging on social media with CTAs is a great way to start gathering social proofs (reviews, comments, etc.). 

Website CTAs

A call to action button is an important element of a webpage. It’s how your user will tell whether they want to continue exploring the webpage or leave and go somewhere else. The design, color and how it looks can influence how users click on it and all in all how successful you’ll be creating a call to action in the first place. There are numerous things to consider when creating a call to action button for your website.

A good way of designing a call to action is by asking yourself how you want it to look and how you want people respond to it. Making sure that you design something that will be aesthetically pleasing while still capture attention is essential, but how do you get started?

When it comes to real estate, a call to action button is how you can drive traffic and get people interested in your listings. When designing a call to action it’s important to remember that you should give users a reason to click on it while making sure that the conversion rates will increase. Here are some tips:

Use action verbs like Buy, Sell, Lease etc.

When designing your CTA buttons for your website it’s important to think about word choice. Real estate websites are very much focused on how people can use the site to do something and how to make conversions happen. This means you should create CTA buttons that include action verbs like Buy, Sell, Lease, etc.

Test how different colors affect your users

It’s important when designing a call to action button for real estate to test how different colors affect user responses and how they are likely to click on your call to action button. There’s no exact science when it comes to how many colors you can use for a CTA, but there are some things that you should consider if you want people to respond.

Black and Red

Black and red are perfect colors if you want to create a sense of urgency with your call to action button. If you’re selling a new listing, these are great bright and bold colors because some people will find it very risky to wait on purchasing the house while others might be willing to take that risk.

White, Blue, and Green

White is great if you’re not focused on creating an urgent tone in your call to action button while blue is another good color that you can use because it’s representative of peace and tranquility which can help when you want your potential clients to feel relaxed about your marketing campaign. A green button may make a customer think of either nature, money, or eco-friendliness. Hopefully, they think about the ways they can make money with you as their listing agent!

Basically, experiment with the button color, whether it’s a bright color on a white background or a part of your websites’ color schemes. It’ll be fun and you’ll also get to see which works best! (Or maybe that’s the nerd in me talking)

Email CTAs

Creating a call to action is not easy. It’s an art form that very few people can agree upon how to do correctly, and it has been argued over for decades. One of the most important aspects how to write a call to action for an email list is how you can get people to subscribe. You want them to subscribe because this is how you will continue doing business in the future, and how you expand your company’s reach. This means how you write a call to action for email signups will be different from how you would make a CTA for other social media platforms.

If you want your audience to subscribe, then how you should approach how to make a call to action button is by asking yourself how the end result of an email subscription benefits them. If they’re able to get great content from you for free, how does this improve how they experience the internet? If you’re asking how to create a CTA button that promises something valuable to your audience, then how can their decision to subscribe be a no-brainer?

The best way how you can do it is by making your call to action trust worthy. A good how to write a call to action for an email list must assure your audience that there is no risk in signing up. You shouldn’t make any sacrifices in how you describe how they will get the benefits of an email subscription, which means how you should never place limits on how many emails someone can get from your site.
