The real estate photography company is also celebrating saving 100,000 miles of driving through their new flex scheduling system. Flex scheduling optimizes photographer’s schedules to reduce the mileage they drive between shoots.

“In 2020, we saw some of the most catastrophic events to the environment, including widespread wildfires in our backyard in Colorado,” said Jeff Corn, Co-Founder, and CEO of Virtuance. “Our team is committed to doing our part to reduce our environmental impact by building systems like our flex scheduling platform, and we’re proud to work with One Tree Planted to rebuild and restore areas impacted by significant environmental changes.”

Working with One Tree Planted

One Tree Planted works alongside the United States Forest Service and the United States Forest and Conservation District to identify vulnerable forests. The organization then selects and plants trees native to a devastated area to maximize forest regeneration.

“When I started One Tree Planted in 2014, my goal was simple: make it easy for people to understand the importance of trees and make it even easier to get trees in the ground. I wanted to highlight the important work these planting organizations were doing, and get more businesses looking at tree planting as a way to give back.” – Matt Hill, Chief Environmental Evangelist, Founder – onetreeplanted.org.

Trees are vital as they support air, water, biodiversity, social impact through sustainable forestry, health, and climate.

Selecting where to plant the trees

Virtuance carefully selected the four states mentioned above because they are all impacted by devastating circumstances. These range from increased wildfires, large-scale insect damage, deforestation, and persistent drought followed by flooding.

In Virtuance’s home state of Colorado, the mountain pine beetle has infested hundreds of thousands of acres of forests. The trees that die from beetle kill, alongside long-term drought, increase the risk of wildfires, which was evident throughout 2020.

One Tree Planted will plant the native pine, aspen, and oak in Colorado. Planting these trees will help restore the forests and support clean watersheds, which supply fresh water to 19 states.

One Tree Planted in California

In California, the wildfires in 2020 consumed nearly three million acres of land. One Tree Planted will plant native trees including sugar pine, California redwood (the state tree), maple, elderberry, willow, birch, dogwood, cedar, giant sequoia, and walnut.

Florida Wetlands
Florida

In Florida, efforts include creating healthier forests to prevent wildfires and mitigate storm damage. Reforestation benefits Florida’s rich diversity of pine forests, wetlands, and ecosystems. One Tree Planted will plant native cypress and longleaf pines, Carolina silverbell, chestnut, and palm.

In Oregon, deforestation is responsible for the disappearance of over half a million acres of forest cover since 2000. The restoration efforts of these forests boost the ecosystems and support healthy soil, waterways, insects, birds, and mammals. Healthy forests equal clean water and a thriving salmon population.
