Hello everyone! Welcome back to Farm Friday. I hope the last two weeks focusing on paid social ads were helpful for some of you looking to generate more leads on your social media platforms. This is the time of the year when I start reflecting on my progress and planning for the following year.
As a content and digital marketer, a lot of my planning involves content strategy. When I think about content strategy, the first thing that comes up for me is search engine optimization, otherwise known as SEO.
This week, I’ve put together a list of SEO keywords for real estate agents to focus on in 2022.
What do I do with SEO keywords?
Now, it wouldn’t be beneficial for me to provide a list of keywords without giving you some idea of what to do with this knowledge.
There are a lot of ways you can use SEO real estate keywords for your marketing strategy.
For example, you can write blog posts that are optimized for search engines. You could also use these keywords to develop a paid social ad campaign or a Google Ads campaign. Additionally, you can find local competitors by using a keyword research tool and strategize how to write better content than them.
What is search volume?
A keyword’s search volume refers to the number of times it gets searched in a month. The search volumes that I will be reporting today are as of November 19, 2021 in the United States.
What is keyword difficulty?
Keyword difficulty refers to how hard it would be to rank your content in that query’s top 10 organic results. The higher the number, the higher the difficulty.
In most cases, keyword difficulty and search volume correlate: the higher the search volume, the higher the keyword difficulty.

Top queries related to finding a realtor in 2022
Of course, not everyone searches for “houses for sale” or “how to sell a house” when they’re looking for a realtor. It would be best if your SEO strategy incorporated keywords that potential clients may use to find real estate companies, real estate brokers, or other professionals in the real estate industry.
Typically, these are good queries to address on your website. Many of these SEO keywords are informative keywords, meaning the searchers are looking for an answer rather than a product.
- realtor (5M)
- real estate agent (165K)
- real estate agents near me (40K)
- top real estate agents (15K)
- commercial real estate agent (5K)
- realtor vs real estate agent (5K)
- real estate agent commission (4K)
- what does a real estate agent do (4K)
- best real estate agent near me (3.6K)
- difference between real estate agent and broker (2.9K)
- find a real estate agent (2.4K)
- how to find a real estate agent (2.4K)
- best real estate agent (1.9K)

Real estate search engine optimization
The three lists I’ve provided are plenty for you to chew on and begin strategizing for how to build organic traffic to your website or your brokerage’s website.
Keep in mind that these real estate SEO keywords aren’t all-inclusive. If you have access to a keyword research tool, you can drill down to what keywords people in your area use to find your competitors.
For example, real estate buyers in urban areas may use different queries than those in rural areas. Certain sellers may be more interested in what sort of real estate commission they may be expected to part with after the sale.
You can also optimize your Google My Business profile for some of these keywords to ensure you’re getting relevant traffic to your website.
Real estate marketing ideas: SEO
If you’re unsure what to do with this list of keywords, I’ve come up with a few ideas and tips!
1. Avoid keyword stuffing
While keywords are a helpful tool, you don’t want to write real estate blogs stuffed with these lists. Google rewards valuable, unique content more than anything else. While keyword stuffing used to work, online search algorithms have advanced significantly in the last decade.
2. Use hyperlocal keywords
I would focus less on using the above keywords and more on using the above keywords to be specific to your location.
As a real estate professional in your market, you probably already have some ideas on what sort of content you could write related to some of these keywords.
Use your knowledge of your local real estate market to write compelling, original copy that answers these queries.
3. Write informative content for real estate clients
You and your colleagues are the real estate experts for your niche! Use that knowledge to answer some of these queries, such as “how long does it take to sell a house” or “how much do real estate agents make” specific to your experience.
The specifics of your expertise will mean more to your potential clients than general, broad answers to these queries. High-quality content is the best way to attract a relevant audience.
4. Write blog content based on long-tail keywords
For any keyword that reads like a question, you have an opportunity to write relevant content in the form of an answer for that question! For example, “what repairs are necessary before selling a house” can result in a blog post answering that exact question. Perhaps you can expand on that answer by providing information about which repairs are necessary depending on the type of properties for sale. Creativity is vital when it comes to SEO and blog content!
Improve search rankings with real estate SEO
While this all seems like a lot of work, you can always develop a keyword strategy and then outsource the content writing to an SEO expert, either freelancers or agencies.

To effectively incorporate SEO keywords into your website content without resorting to keyword stuffing, focus on creating content that naturally integrates these keywords within a valuable context. Start by understanding the intent behind each keyword and develop content that addresses that intent. For instance, if the keyword is “houses for sale near me,” create a blog post or a page dedicated to listings or market analysis in specific neighborhoods. Use synonyms and related terms to enrich your content, making it more readable and engaging. Additionally, include keywords in strategic places such as titles, headers, meta descriptions, and the first paragraph, ensuring they fit seamlessly into your content. Remember, the primary goal is to provide value to your readers, not just to rank higher on search engines.
Hyperlocal keywords are highly specific to a particular town, neighborhood, or even street. These could include the name of the neighborhood, landmarks, local schools, or other points of interest. For example, “downtown condos for sale” or “ family homes.” To identify the best hyperlocal keywords for your area, start by researching your target audience’s search behaviors, using tools like Google’s Keyword Planner or Google Trends. Consider the unique features of your area that people might search for, such as “beachfront properties in ” or “ homes near .” Engaging with community forums and social media groups can also provide insights into the specific terms locals use to describe their area.
Beyond writing blog posts, there are several creative strategies to enhance your real estate website’s SEO performance with long-tail keywords. One approach is to create detailed property listings that answer specific queries, such as “3 bedroom homes for sale with a pool in .” Another idea is to produce video content that addresses long-tail questions, offering virtual tours of neighborhoods or properties that match these specific searches. You could also host webinars or Q&A sessions that tackle these queries, providing expert advice on topics like “steps to buying your first home in ” or “how to sell your home without a realtor.” Additionally, consider creating infographics that summarize key points for complex questions, making the information easily shareable and visually appealing.
