It’s the most wonderful (and insightful) time of the year! As the holidays gear up and 2022 comes to a close, planning your business strategy for the upcoming season should be top of mind.

Much of your success depends on you as a real estate agent. It’s up to you to run engaging marketing campaigns, find, nurture, and convert leads, and build a strong and loyal referral network.

To help you prepare for the new year, we created a list of 10 ideas for how to be a successful real estate agent in 2023. And if you’re looking for more marketing trends for the upcoming year, check out our 2023 Real Estate Marketing Trends Report

1. Stay on top of the market

A buyer or seller puts a lot of trust in their real estate agent, as they should. It’s your role to understand the real estate market and any significant shifts throughout the year. This means staying up-to-date on local and national trends, such as housing prices, demand for certain types of properties, and changes in the economy.

Your brokerage may offer resources and training. You can also find real estate knowledge databases made for real estate professionals like NAR and Realtor.com

2. Leverage your brokerage

Lean on your brokerage in 2023. Consider your brokerage a network of opportunities.

For listing appointments, share remarkable brokerage statistics. For personal development, find a mentor within your team. Your brokerage is also a great place to share leads and receive referrals

3. Create goals and stay accountable

Goal-oriented people find the most success. Draft up a business plan with specific business goals for 2023.

Decide on a clear and realistic number of listings you want to sell, the number of buyers you want to help, and the profit you want to bring in.

Every quarter, refer to your plan and adjust your strategy when needed.

4. Streamline your brand aesthetic

Branding is crucial for real estate agents. How you market your business and your listings helps potential clients determine your level of professionalism, whether it correlates or not.

Take time this month to tweak or completely overhaul your branding. Research real estate marketing designs online and review your fonts, colorways, and logo.

There are platforms, like Canva, where you can create your designs from templates. You can also use real estate marketing services like Virtuance

5. Win every listing

Go into your listing appointments planning to walk away with a signed contract. Winning a listing appointment involves preparation, presentation, and confidence.

There are several things you should bring to your listing appointment. You can see our recommended list here

6. Generate high-converting leads

Lead generation should be at the top of your list in your 2023 business plan. It’s one thing just to generate leads, though. Focus on leads with high-converting potential. Your marketing strategy comes into play when finding, generating, and nurturing high-quality leads.

Instead of paying a lead generation service for so-so contacts, be intentional with your marketing strategies in 2023.

7. Focus on social media

Social media is here to stay, and it’s growing daily. The networks may feel saturated, but each platform has plenty of real estate-related niches.

Spend a day researching different social media networks. Determine which platforms will offer you the most opportunity with lead generation and brand awareness

8. Pick up the phone

Newer real estate agents shy away from cold-calling. It can be a nerve-wracking marketing strategy because it potentially interrupts someone’s day to pitch your business. But the thing is, it works.

Checking in on your leads is crucial for your real estate business. You won’t know where your contacts are in their home buying or selling process until you pick up the phone and ask.

9. Host a workshop

Host a home selling or a home buying workshop in your community. A workshop is a great place to meet potential clients, practice your presentation skills, and provide industry knowledge to locals.

10. Market to homebuyers

Potential homebuyers are relatively easy to find and market to. You can find homebuyers in real estate and rental groups on Facebook.

Additionally, apartment complex managers often allow real estate agents to leave door hangers or informational one-sheeters for renters.
