Leading a real estate team can be lucrative if you find and hire the right people. You’ll increase productivity, provide optimal client service, and collaborate efficiently to boost success.

If you want to build a real estate team that will take your business to the next level, keep reading! We’ll cover what a real estate team is, why you should build one, and the five steps to ensure your team is successful.

What is a real estate team?

A real estate team is a group of two or more agents—or other professionals—that have decided to work together toward a common goal of extending their reach and closing more deals

Each team member should be invested in the group’s success, and a successful team will rally together when facing challenges so they can continue to thrive.

Why should you build a real estate team?

As a single agent, the amount of ground you can cover in the real estate market is limited. There’s only so much one person can do! Building a team makes things more manageable and less stressful for the single agent and can help you close more deals in less time.

Building a real estate team can be a fruitful venture if you do it right, and any agents looking to grow exponentially should consider whether creating a team is right for you.

Five steps for building a successful real estate team

Ready to take the plunge and take your real estate business to the next level? We’re offering our top five tips for building a successful real estate team.

1. Set business goals

As a real estate agent on a solo endeavor, you understand just how important goals are for your business. A lot goes into planning, setting, measuring, and ultimately achieving your goals—and the same goes for your potential team!

Before starting your hiring process, consider what your business goals are. Once you have an idea, you can start thinking about how large of a team you’d like.

2. Start hiring

With an idea of your future business goals, it’s time to start hiring!

Depending on how large you want your team to be, you can begin to look for agents and other team members. Consider a transaction coordinator, showing assistant, marketing specialist, administrative assistant, or other real estate professionals to fill your team.

3. Equip your team with useful tools

Now that you’ve got a team underway and ready to work, equipping them with useful tools to streamline their workflow, maintain an organized approach to business affairs, and automate tasks that are typically tedious and repetitive.

Using tools such as a client relationship management (CRM) system, internal communication software, marketing and design tools, and a task management system will be helpful to keep your team on track to meet goals.

4. Set team goals

Although you’ve already set business goals, it’s still important to set goals for your team. If you flesh out a solid yet attainable set of goals, you’re setting yourself and your future team up for success

Encourage your team to set personal and team goals. Keep communication open between team members to help each other stay accountable and on track. If you can set goals the whole team can achieve, you will see your business grow in the ways you’ve been dreaming of!

5. Build a strategy for generating leads

Consistency is key if you want to generate a steady stream of leads. Ensure your team feels comfortable working with various lead generation techniques, such as email campaigns, lead forms, and asking for referrals

Also, don’t forget that a customized website for each team member—and the team as a whole—goes a long way in reaching your target audience. You could even consider blogging for lead generation.

The options are endless, so build a customized strategy for your team and watch the leads you generate turn into sales!
